SUMMARY:Ethics Call Up! When Professionalism Is Put to the Test
DESCRIPTION:Knowing the Code of Ethics is one thing. Recognizing how it applies when you're in the middle of a real transaction is another.\n\nIn Ethics Call Up\, instructor and fellow PMAR member LaTasha Beal takes a practical look at the duties REALTORS owe to their clients and others and how those responsibilities intersect with the REALTOR Code of Ethics.\n\nStarting with the affirmative duties outlined in Oregon's Initial Agency Disclosure Pamphlet\, LaTasha will connect agency responsibilities to corresponding principles in the Code of Ethics and explore what they look like in real-world practice.\n\nWhat happens when confidentiality\, disclosure\, competing offers\, agency relationships and your client's instructions collide? Where do your legal duties and obligations under the Code of Ethics overlap? And could something that feels like ordinary business practice put you at odds with the Code without you realizing it?\n\nThrough practical scenarios and discussion\, we'll explore questions like:\n What are your obligations when a buyer or seller already has an exclusive agreement with another REALTOR ? Can you show the same property to multiple buyer clients?\n What can you disclose about the existence of competing offers and who decides?\n Can information about offers be shared with some buyers and not others?\n What are your confidentiality obligations?\n What changes when disclosed limited agency enters the picture?\n How can seemingly routine actions lead to an ethics or regulatory complaint?\n\nThrough practical examples and discussion\, we'll explore professional conduct in challenging situations\, the relationship between ethical and legal responsibilities\, and how the Code can help guide your decisions when the right path isn't always obvious.\n\n1.5 HR Oregon CE | Attendees must be visible on camera to receive CE credit.\n\nInstructor: LaTasha Beal earned her bachelor's degree in Real Estate Finance from Portland State University (Go Vikings!) and has been a licensed REALTOR in Oregon since 2009 and Washington since 2018. As a Principal Broker with more than seven years of brokerage leadership experience\, she has coached\, trained\, and mentored agents at every stage of their careers\, helping them navigate contracts\, compliance\, ethics\, and transaction disputes. A National Association of REALTORS (NAR) certified instructor\, LaTasha teaches the Accredited Buyer's Representative (ABR )\, Bias Override\, and Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA) courses. She also serves in industry leadership roles\, including with Oregon REALTORS and the Oregon Real Estate Agency Board\, making her a trusted resource on ethics\, fair housing\, professional standards\, and the legal issues impacting today's real estate professionals.
